Defender Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) and the Canadian women's national team will start 2014 with a major challenge.

Canada faces the U.S. on Friday night in Frisco, Texas, looking to end a 29-game winless streak against their continental rivals. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.

The Canadians are 0-25-4 against the Americans, who continue to top the FIFA Women's World Rankings, since a 3-0 win over the U.S. at the Algarve Cup in Portugal back in March 2001. Canada remained seventh when the latest world rankings were announced last month.

Sesselmann has earned 38 caps for Canada, with the past three coming at last month's Torneio Internacional Brasilia in Brazil.
