It might have been a foregone conclusion, but Rose Lavelle (UW) and the U.S. Under-20 women's national team are officially headed to Canada this summer.

The U.S. routed Trinidad and Tobago 6-0 in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Championships on Friday night in George Town, Cayman Islands, to earn a berth in the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup. The tournament is Aug. 5 to 24 in Canada.

Lavelle logged 59 minutes in her third start of the tournament as the U.S. extended its winning streak at the regional championship to 14 matches. The Americans have scored 25 goals without conceding in four games at this year's tournament heading into Sunday's final against Mexico. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on Fox Soccer Plus and Fox Soccer 2GO.

While teams won't announce rosters until much closer to the tournament, it appears UW likely will have at least two players at the Under-20 World Cup in Lavelle and Canadian midfielder Kinley McNicoll – the host team qualified automatically. The Badgers haven't announced their 2014 schedule, but last year they started preseason training on Aug. 7 and their regular-season opener was Aug. 23.
