For the first time, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America recognized high school teams with Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Awards.

The awards were split into Gold, Silver and Bronze categories, based on the number of red and yellow cards teams received during the fall 2013 season.

Two Wisconsin boys sides earned Silver awards for not being issued any red cards and no more than five yellow cards: Kenosha Christian Life, coached by Alan Krass, and Pewaukee, coached by Randy Staus. They were among 54 teams nationwide to claim the award.

Fourteen teams across the country claimed the Gold award for receiving no cards at all during the season, while nine sides received the Bronze award for having no red cards and 10 yellow cards or fewer.

  • Manny Pollock is the new boys coach at Schofield D.C. Everest, the Wausau Daily Herald reported. Pollock, who played for the Evergreens from 2002 to '04, takes over the program after CJ Hansen stepped down after five seasons. Pollock was an assistant under Hansen for four years and served in that same role for Wausau East last fall.
