FC Kansas City defender Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) and the Canadian women's national team dominated play in their first two matches of the Torneio Internacional de Futebol Feminino in Brazil, but have only one win to show for it.
Sesselmann played the full 90 minutes in Thursday's 2-0 victory over Scotland in the tournament opener in Brasilia, then came on at halftime in Sunday's surprising 1-0 loss to Chile - which is tied for 118th in the latest FIFA Women's Rankings.
Seventh-ranked Canada now must beat Brazil in Wednesday's round-robin finale to earn a rematch against the host team in the final Sunday. The fourth-ranked Brazilians beat Chile 2-0 and Scotland 3-1 in their first two matches.
Sesselmann was issued a yellow card in the game against Chile, just her third caution in 37 career caps.
