The Turkish Cup seems to bring out the best in Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay).

For the second straight match, Ricketts came off the bench and scored the goal that sent Bucaspor on to the next round of the Cup.

Ricketts scored the game-winner in the 78th minute as the second-division side earned a 2-1 victory over visiting Beşiktaş – which is in fourth place in the top-level Süper Lig – in a fourth-round match on Thursday. (Video below, starting at 2:27 mark)

The Canadian international received the ball in his own half on the left side and worked his way around three defenders before unleashing a right-footed strike from the top of the box on the right side that whistled past goalkeeper Cenk Gönen's near post.

Ricketts, who scored the lone goal in the 120th and final minute of extra time in a 1-0 win over third-division Aydınspor in a third-round Cup match on Oct. 30, came on in the 58th minute against Beşiktaş.

The 26-year-old Ricketts has six goals in 14 appearances in all competitions for Bucaspor, which will play host to Süper Lig club Antalyaspor in a fifth-round Cup match Dec. 18. Antalyaspor (4-4-6) currently is 11th out of 18 teams in the Süper Lig, while Bucaspor (5-8-2) stands 14th in the 19-team 1. Lig.

  • The Milwaukee Wave have played in three of the first four weeks of the Major Indoor Soccer League season – and have had the player of the week each time. Forward Carlos Munoz took the honors this week after his hat trick, including the game-winner with 20 seconds left in regulation, helped Milwaukee score the final 10 points and rally past the Baltimore Blast 12-10 in its home opener Saturday. Defender Judson McKinney, whose first goal with the Wave tied the score at 10, joined Munoz on the MISL Team of the Week, while player-coach Giuliano Oliviero was honorable mention.
  • Defender JP Rodrigues, who spent the past five seasons with the Wave, signed with the Rochester Lancers. The 29-year-old Rodrigues will be playing for his former Wave teammate Josh Rife, who retired during the offseason to take over as the Lancers' coach. Rochester (1-2) is allowing 7.25 goals per game, which ranks fifth in the seven-team MISL.
