The University of Wisconsin women's soccer team saw its season end two weeks ago, but freshman midfielder Rose Lavelle will be back on the field next week.

Lavelle is among 16 players called in to a U.S. Under-20 women's national team camp that starts Sunday and runs through Dec. 1 in Carson, Calif.

The camp will be followed by another in mid-December in Florida as the team prepares for the CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championships, which are Jan. 9 to 19 in the Cayman Islands.

Lavelle, who was the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year and a first-team, All-Big Ten selection this fall, is one of seven players invited to the camp who have been regulars with coach Michelle French's Under-20 team this year.

  • Defender Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) is one of 23 players named to Canada's roster for Sunday's international friendly against Mexico in Vancouver. The team has been training in Burnaby, British Columbia, for the past few weeks. On Twitter: @lsesselmann
  • Bucaspor striker Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay) started and played the first half in his 27th cap as Canada lost to host Slovenia 1-0 in a friendly Tuesday in Celje. It was the end of a frustrating year for the Canadians, who went 0-10-3 and scored just one goal in 2013. On Twitter: @TosaintRicketts
