The SC Waukesha Blue Under-18 boys team recently learned its schedule for U.S. Youth Soccer National League competition, which begins later this month.

The team's seven matches in the Blue Division will be played over two weekends, the first Nov. 21 to 24 in Wilson, N.C., and the second March 14 to 16 at a location to be determined.

Coach Giuliano Oliviero's side will face Maryland's OBGC Rangers in its National League debut Nov. 21, then takes on New Jersey's Princeton Premiere, Georgia's Concorde Fire Elite and North Carolina's TUSA Gold to close out the opening weekend.

SC Waukesha Blue will play Arizona's Scottsdale Blackhawks, California's West Coast FC and Michigan's Alliance Black next spring to close out league play.

The winners of each of the divisions in the Under-14 through Under-18 levels of the National League earn berths in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships, which are July 22 to 27 in Germantown, Md. SC Waukesha Blue advanced to nationals last summer thanks in part to the National League – they lost to Cincinnati United Premier Gold in the Region II Under-17 final, but the Ohio team already had earned a berth by winning its National League division, and the Wisconsin team was awarded a spot.

SC Waukesha Blue is just the second state boys side to play in the National League in the competition's seven-year history, following Kenosha's United FC in the 2011-12 season. The North Shore United Under-18 team, which played the 2012-13 season, is the only girls team from Wisconsin to play in the league.

  • The FC Wisconsin teams in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and Elite Clubs National League are both at home in Germantown this weekend. On the boys side, FC Wisconsin Nationals close out the fall portion of their season against teams from St. Louis Scott Gallagher, with matches against the Metro team Saturday and the Missouri side on Sunday. Meanwhile, the FC Wisconsin Eclipse girls Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 teams will play host to Minnesota Thunder Academy on Saturday. • The ECNL announced that its Under-18 and Under-14 national finals and Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 playoffs will be played next summer in Redmond, Wash. The U18 and U14 national finals will include 16 teams playing group matches, semifinals and finals from June 24 to 29. In the other three age groups, 32 teams will play from June 26 to 29 to determine the eight finalists in each of the divisions. Another 32 teams will participate in the North American Cup championship.
  • The National Cup XIII, the national championships for U.S. Club Soccer, will be July 18 to 21 in Greensboro, N.C. The Midwest Regional competition is scheduled for June 27 to 30 in Libertyville and Waukegan, Ill.
  • The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association announced its several of its 2013 award winners, recognizing contributions to youth soccer by volunteers, administrators and referees. Roni Andrew of Brookfield TOPSoccer was named the TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year, Dianne Bellisle of Howard Hurricanes FC is the Administrator of the Year and the young referees of the year are Waukesha's Erik Orlowski and Hartland's Emma Oppermann. Award winners will be honored during the WYSA annual general meeting, which is March 8 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. The organization also will recognize awards for volunteers, staff and coaches; WYSA currently is accepting nominations for those honors. State winners are eligible for U.S. Youth Soccer Region II awards.
  • Five state teams won or clinched division titles in U.S. Youth Soccer Midwest Regional League play this fall. A total of 44 Wisconsin teams – 34 girls sides and 10 boys teams – played in the top USYS competition for Region II, which was restructured this fall to include two levels of Premier divisions and a First Division in the Under-15 through Under-18 age groups and Premier Qualification and First divisions for the Under-13 and Under-14 competition. Three state sides won division titles in U16 girls play: SC Waukesha Blue (Premier II), Fusion (First Division Blue) and North Shore United (First Division White), while SC Waukesha Blue also won the Premier II title at U15 girls. On the boys side, Madison FC Gold clinched the U14 First Division Blue championship.
