Tosaint Ricketts

Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay) came off the bench, then came through in the clutch.

The striker entered the match as a substitute in the 58th minute and scored the lone goal in the 120th – the final minute of the second half of extra time – to give host Bucaspor a 1-0 victory over Aydınspor in a third-round Turkish Cup match last Wednesday.

Ricketts, who signed with Bucaspor at the transfer deadline in September after playing with Norwegian club Sandnes Ulf during the first half of 2013, has four goals in nine appearances overall with the Turkish second-division side.

  • Charles Kazlauskas (Milwaukee Thomas More) scored his first goal of the season Monday, helping Helmond Sport overcome a two-goal deficit to beat Jong Ajax 3-2 in a Jupiler League match in the Netherlands. Kazlauskas finished off a corner kick in the 65th minute to start the comeback, and the home side equalized in the 78th and scored the game-winner in the 82nd to move into fourth place in the second-tier league.
  • Sarah Hagen (Appleton North/UW-Milwaukee) had a hat trick and added an assist as host FC Bayern Munich routed FF USV Jena 5-0 in a Frauen-Bundesliga match in Germany. Hagen set up fellow American Amber Brooks' opener with a header in the 22nd minute, then scored from the left side in the 29th and the right side in the 43rd as Bayern Munich opened up a 3-0 halftime lead. Hagen closed out the lopsided win in the 89th – she's tied for second with seven goals in seven league matches for Bayern Munich (5-1-1), which remained one point behind leaders Turbine Potsdam and 1. FFC Frankfurt. Video highlights (Match starts at -8:18 mark). On Twitter: @sarahapplehagen
  • Shannon Smyth (Mequon/Milwaukee DSHA) and Amazon Grimstad lost to Klepp 2-1 in their season finale Saturday and now face a playoff against Sarpsborg 08, the runner-up in the First Division, for a spot in the Toppserien next season. Amazon Grimstad (3-13-6) finished 11th in the 12-team league, six points behind Klepp – but had they won the finale, Amazon Grimstad would have been safe in 10th place thanks to a better goal differential. Klepp scored in the 66th and 87th before visiting Amazon Grimstad pulled one back in second-half injury time. On Twitter: @ShannonSmyth
  • Aaron Nichols (UW) didn't play Saturday as Ljungskile SK closed out its season in Sweden's second-tier Superettan with a 1-0 loss to Örebro SK. However, the team announced last week that Nichols, who joined Ljungskile in July after impressing during a tour with Chicago-based Bridges FC, had signed a two-year contract with the club. Nichols appeared in eight matches (four starts) and scored once  in the short stint with Ljungskile, which finished ninth in its first season in the 16-team league.
  • Also in the Superettan, Matt Pyzdrowski (Marquette) made eight saves as Ängelholms FF lost to host Falkenbergs FF 4-2 in its finale. The 27-year-old Pyzdrowski played in all but two matches in his third season with Ängelholms, finishing with a 1.61 goals-against average and four shutouts as the team overcame a slow start to finish sixth. • Jamie Lieberman (Racine Prairie School/UW-Parkside) made 17 saves as the host Cincinnati Saints tipped the Cleveland Freeze 8-7 in a Professional Arena Soccer League opener Saturday. Lieberman, who has been working with the goalkeepers in the Dayton men's program this fall, played for the Cincinnati Kings in the league last season after spending 2011-12 with the Norfolk SharX in the Major Indoor Soccer League.
  • Calum Mallace (Marquette) scored one goal during his loan spell with Minnesota United FC this fall, but it was quite a strike. His long-range volley in United's 2-1 win over FC Edmonton on Sept. 22 is one of 11 finalists for the North American Soccer League Goal of the Year. Mallace, on loan from Major League Soccer's Montreal Impact, played in 12 matches for Minnesota United both in the midfield and on the backline and finished with one goal and one assist.
