Shannon Smyth (Mequon/Milwaukee DSHA) and the Republic of Ireland will look to continue their unbeaten start to 2015 Women's World Cup qualifying next week.

On Monday, Smyth was named to the Irish squad for the UEFA Group 1 qualifier on Oct. 30 at Slovenia in Velenje.

Ireland (1-0-1) leads the six-team group with four points heading into the matchup against Slovenia (1-0-0), which first faces group favorite Germany (1-0-0) on Saturday.

It's the final match of the year for Ireland, which is 3-1-3 in 2013 and isn't scheduled to play again until its next World Cup qualifier at home on April 5 against Germany – the Germans, ranked second in the world by FIFA, have three qualifiers before that match.

Only the group champion is assured of a spot in the Women's World Cup in Canada; the top four runners-up from the seven groups will play off for the final UEFA berth.

Smyth, who plays for Amazon Grimstad in Norway's Toppserien and has won 24 international caps, will meet up with the Irish team on Saturday in London.
