Andrija Novakovich didn't score for the U.S. Under-18 national team Sunday, but the striker from Muskego still played an important role in the Americans' win over Poland.

Novakovich's shot in the 39th minute deflected off sliding Polish defender Damian Ciechanowski for an own goal as the U.S. won 2-0 to wrap up an unbeaten run at a four-team tournament in Limoges, France. (Video highlights below, goal sequence starts at 2:48)

The Americans and France both finished 2-0-1, with the host team declared champions thanks to a better goal differential. The sides tied 2-2 in their meeting last Wednesday, with Novakovich scoring the first goal as the U.S. rallied from an early 2-0 deficit.

U.S. Soccer hasn't posted official lineups and match reports, but information collected from media outlets indicates Novakovich started all three games. He's scored four goals in eight appearances for the U.S. Under-17 and Under-18 teams, all coming this year.

  • Goalkeeper Dafydd Jones (Cardinal Stritch) is one of 16 players named to the Wales national Futsal squad for the team's first home matches, Oct. 26 and 27 against Andorra in Newport, South Wales. The Welsh program, which debuted with back-to-back 2-1 losses at Andorra in September 2012, has lost all six of its games so far– four of them by one goal. Jones, who plays for London's Genesis Futsal Club in the FA National Futsal League South, has appeared in five of those matches.
