State pro notes: Hagen scores again, Bethke advances to Cup final

Sarah Hagen (Appleton North/UW-Milwaukee) is in a fine run of form.

The striker scored for the third straight match as Bayern Munich dropped visiting BV Cloppenburg 5-2 on Saturday in a Frauen-Bundesliga match in Germany.

Hagen's diving header in the 69th minute, her fifth goal in five games in all competitions this season, gave Bayern Munich a 4-2 lead. Video highlights (Goal sequence starts at -4:10 mark)

The home side improved to 3-0-1 and is tied with 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam atop the 12-team league – Bayern Munich is technically in second place based on goal differential.

  • Katie Bethke (Eau Claire Memorial) played the full 90 minutes as Avaldsnes routed visiting Vålerenga 5-1 on Saturday in Norway to advance to the Cup final for the first time in club history. Avaldsnes will face Stabæk in the NM Cupen final; the date for that match hasn't been announced. Stabæk, which leads the Toppserien with a 16-0-3 record, posted a 5-1 victory over fourth-place Avaldsnes when the teams met in June. On Twitter: @kbethke3
  • Andrew Stadler (Wauwatosa West) had an assist as host Sandvikens IF boosted its survival hopes by blanking Eskilstuna City FK 3-0 in a Division 1 Norra match Saturday in Sweden. Stadler set up Björn Berglund's 12th-minute goal, which gave the home side a 2-0 lead. Sandvikens (6-13-4) is in 12th place in the 14-team third-tier league  the bottom three teams will be relegated to the fourth-tier Division 2 for the 2014 season – and four points from safety with three matches remaining. They have a tough run-in, facing fourth-place IFK Luleå, second-place Dalkurd FF and fifth-place BK Forward to close out the season. Stadler, who is tied for 10th in the league with seven goals, tweeted that he is suspended for Sunday's game against IFK Luleå because of yellow-card accumulation. On Twitter: @AndrewStadler
  • The Milwaukee Wave, who open their 30th season on Nov. 16, signed midfielder-forward Carlos Munoz to a three-year contract and defender Judson McKinney to a two-year deal. Both players were with the expansion Chicago Soul last season, but that team has since folded. The 26-year-old Munoz ranked seventh in the Major Indoor Soccer League with 25 goals last season, and also added eight assists in 25 games. He was a finalist for the MISL Rookie of the Year Award and played for the U.S. Futsal national team and Wave coach Keith Tozer at the Four Nations Tournament in England over the summer.
