The Kettle Moraine prep boys soccer team is on quite a run.

The Lasers, the WIAA Division 1 state runners-up each of the past two seasons, won all 10 of their matches in September and have returned to the national rankings.

Kettle Moraine (15-1-1 coming into the week) checked in at No. 24 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of American poll. It's the Lasers' second stint in the rankings, having been 21st in the organization's first poll of the season.

Milwaukee Marquette (12-0-2), which beat Kettle Moraine in the past two state finals and tied them 1-1 on Aug. 30, moved up two spots to No. 14 in the NSCAA rankings.

The Hilltoppers, coming off victories over Rockhurst (Mo.) and Washington D.C. Gonzaga at the Jesuit Classic last weekend in Missouri, also rose three places to No. 8 in this week's Student Sports Fab 50.

Marquette and Kettle Moraine are second and third in the NSCAA Region VI poll, which also features Hartland Arrowhead at No. 9, Brookfield East – the only team to beat Kettle Moraine this season – at No. 10 and Neenah at No. 15.

The Hilltoppers also continue to lead the Student Sports Wisconsin rankings, though that website ranks Arrowhead second and Kettle Moraine third.

  • Kettle Moraine and Marquette both extended streaks on Tuesday night. The Lasers beat Mukwonago 4-0 for their 11th consecutive victory, while the Hilltoppers' 13-0 rout of West Allis Central pushed their unbeaten run against state teams to 56 matches (53-0-3).
  • Junior forward Mitch Morhoff scored twice and set up the other goal as Oregon blanked Madison Edgewood 3-0 on Tuesday night at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona to extend its Southern Badger Conference unbeaten streak to 31 matches (30-0-1).
  • Junior Adrian Esquivel and senior Adam Statz scored first-half goals and Watertown held off host West Bend East 2-1 on Tuesday night to claim the program's first Wisconsin Little Ten Conference title in its 23-year history. The Goslings (12-1-2 overall, 6-0-0 Little Ten) allowed just one goal in conference play this season. Read more from the Watertown Daily Times
  • Looking ahead to next week, Tuesday's schedule is shaping up as a big one. Kettle Moraine plays host to Arrowhead in Wales with the Classic 8 Conference title on the line, while Marquette plays at Brookfield East. The Hilltoppers, however, already have clinched the Greater Metro Conference title.
