Milwaukee Marquette

It was another mixed week for Milwaukee Marquette in the national prep boys soccer rankings.

The Hilltoppers (7-0-2) moved up one place to No. 18 in the Student Sports Fab 50, but dropped three spots to No. 16 in the National Soccer Coaches Association Top 25.

Marquette, which is unbeaten in its past 52 games against Wisconsin teams (49-0-3), slipped one spot to second in the NSCAA Region VI poll. Kettle Moraine is fifth in the regional rankings, while Brookfield East is seventh, Hartland Arrowhead 11th and Neenah 14th.

The Hilltoppers continue to lead the Student Sports state rankings, followed by Arrowhead and Neenah.

Eau Claire Memorial is looking for a new coach, as Kit Schiefelbein stepped down over the summer.

Schiefelbein led the Old Abes to a 139-37-18 record, five Big Rivers Conference titles and five WIAA Division 1 state tournament appearances in her eight seasons. She resigned because she accepted a position as an administrator at Northstar Middle School, and Eau Claire Area School District policy doesn't allow administrators to serve as head coaches.

Coaches interested in the position should contact Memorial athletic director Trevor Kohlhepp at tkohlhepp@ecasd.k12.wi.us.
