The Milwaukee Wave are celebrating their 30th anniversary with a new look.

The Major Indoor Soccer League team unveiled its new blue, black and white look and uniforms last week.

One version of the logo, and one of the new jersey designs, includes the outline of the Milwaukee skyline.

  • One player who won't be wearing that new Wave logo is defender Jose Rife, who retired as a player and was named coach of the rival Rochester Lancers on Friday. The 33-year-old Rife was a defender for Milwaukee the past four seasons, scoring 26 goals and adding 17 assists in 98 regular-season and playoff appearances. The Lancers finished 10-16 and fifth in the seven-team MISL last season under Jim Hesch.
  • The 2013-14 MISL schedule will be announced at noon Monday. Three Wave games were previously announced: the Nov. 16 season opener at the Missouri Comets in Independence, Mo.; Nov. 23 at the Baltimore Blast; and the Dec. 7 home opener against the Blast at U.S. Cellular Arena.
  • The Wave and Milwaukee radio station WSSP (1250 AM) have teamed up to produce the Milwaukee Wave Soccer Show, which can be heard at 6 p.m. Wednesdays. The weekly show, hosted by Joe Zenzola and Art Kramer, includes discussion about the Wave in addition to soccer on all levels. It's also available as a podcast through the team's Soundcloud page.
