Lisa Philbin (Marquette) has played in two Swedish Cup matches and has two goals to her name.

Most importantly, her Kvarnsvedens IK side has moved on to the next round each time.

Philbin scored the equalizer in the 77th minute and Kvarnsvedens upset visiting Mallbackens IF 4-2 on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw in a second-round match Tuesday to advance to the round of 16.

Kvarnsvedens is in fourth place in the second-tier Elitettan and has lost just twice in its past 10 matches overall, while Mallbackens is 11th out of 12 teams in the top-level Damallsvenskan.

Philbin, who has three goals in six matches overall with Kvarnsvedens, was subbed out in the 118th minute and wasn't involved in the decisive penalty kicks.

  • Aaron Nichols (UW) signed with Swedish second-division club Ljungskile SK last month but hasn't been able to get into a match yet, as he had to wait for paperwork issues to be resolved and then suffered an injury. However, LSK manager Tor-Arne Fredheim told the team's website that he expects Nichols to be ready for Tuesday's Superettan match against GAIS.
  • Patrick McLain (Eau Claire Memorial) earned his first shutout of the season in the Major League Soccer Reserve League on Tuesday, as Chivas USA blanked the Colorado Rapids 1-0 in Commerce City, Colo. McLain stopped two shots by Rapids forward Edson Buddle in the first 5 minutes, made a double-save on a volley by Danny Mwanga and a follow-up by Atiba Harris in the 75th and denied a pair of late chances by Kamani Hill to preserve the clean sheet.
