Lisa Philbin's pro soccer career has gotten off to a great start.

The former Marquette forward-midfielder scored the lone goal in the 35th minute Saturday as Kvarnsvedens IK tipped host Hovås Billdal IF 1-0 in an Elitettan match in Sweden.

Kvarnsvedens (8-4-5) hasn't allowed a goal in a four-game unbeaten streak and has moved up to fourth place in the 14-team second division with nine matches left in the season.

Philbin also scored for the club in its 4-0 rout of Östersunds DFF in a second-round Swedish Cup match on July 30, giving her two goals in three games with her new team. On Twitter: @lisaphilbin

  • Katie Bethke (Eau Claire Memorial) scored directly off a corner kick in the 12th minute Saturday, helping spark Avaldsnes to a 2-0 victory over Klepp in a Toppserien match Saturday in Norway. Bethke bent a corner into the net for her second goal of the season for Avaldsnes (5-6-2), which is fifth in the 12-team top division. On Twitter: @kbethke3
  • Midfielder Rosie Malone-Povolny (Marquette) scored her second goal of the season for Medkila, but the host team had to settle for a 2-2 draw with fourth-place Arna-Bjørnar in a Toppserien match Saturday. Malone-Povolny put seventh-place Medkila (4-5-4) ahead with the opener off a corner kick in the 54th minute.
  • Goalkeeper Matt Pyzdrowski (Marquette) and host Ängelholms FF left it late, scoring the equalizer in the 90th minute and the winner in the 94th to beat Landskrona BoIS 2-1 in a Superettan match Monday in Sweden. It was the fourth consecutive victory for Ängelholms (7-6-5), which is eighth in the 16-team second division. On Twitter: @KeeperPyz
  • B.J. Gottschlich (Germantown/UW-Platteville) spent time on trial with Swedish club Sandvikens IF last month. Gottschlich, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2009 and '10, plays for Milwaukee Sport Club in the Wisconsin Soccer Leagues Major Division. Andrew Stadler (Wauwatosa West) has been with Sandvikens, which plays in the country's third division in the Division 1 Norra, since 2011. On Twitter: @gottschlichb
  • Wilmington Hammerheads forward Kyle Greig (Stevens Point) was named to last week's USL PRO Team of the Week after scoring in the team's 2-1 win over the Charleston Battery on Aug. 2 and a 1-0 victory over the Dayton Dutch Lions two days later. Greig is second on the team with five goals. Rochester midfielder J.C. Banks (Milwaukee Riverside/UW-Green Bay) was an honorable mention selection after scoring his first goal of the season in a 3-1 loss to Dayton.
