Gullringens GOIF resumed its season Saturday in Sweden, but James Weber (Hartford) was still in Wisconsin.

And he'll remain in his home state for at least the next six months.

The 20-year Weber isn't returning to the Division 3 Nordöstra Götaland side. In an email Sunday, he wrote that his focus instead will be on the Milwaukee Wave – he signed with the Major Indoor Soccer League team last winter.

Weber scored 16 goals in 21 matches with Gullringens after signing with the fifth-division club in July 2012, including seven in 11 games this season. He found the back of the net in each of the team's first seven matches this spring. Weber signed with the Wave in February and appeared in two regular-season games before heading back to Sweden.

  • Matt Pyzdrowski (Marquette) made three saves in his third shutout of the season as Ängelholms FF blanked host Brage 1-0 on Monday night for its third straight win in Sweden's second-tier Superettan. Pyzdrowski has played every minute for Ängelholms (6-6-5), which is eighth in the 16-team league and has outscored foes 11-1 during its winning streak. On Twitter: @KeeperPyz
  • Shannon Smyth (Mequon/Milwaukee DSHA) started and played 70 minutes in her first appearance of the season, but host Amazon Grimstad lost to Avaldsnes 4-1 on Saturday as the Toppserien season resumed in Norway. Smyth missed the first 10 games of the season for Amazon Grimstad (1-7-3) after breaking a bone in her foot during a preseason match. Katie Bethke (Eau Claire Memorial) played the full 90 minutes for seventh-place Avaldnes (4-5-2). On Twitter: @ShannonSmyth and @kbethke3
  • J.C. Banks (Milwaukee Riverside/UW-Green Bay) scored his first goal of the season Friday, but the Rochester Rhinos' frustrating season continued with a 3-1 loss to the visiting Dayton Dutch Lions 3-1 in a weather-shortened USL PRO match. Banks brought down a long ball from defender Lucas Fernandez inside the box with his back to goal, turned and fired past Dayton goalkeeper Matt Williams to give Rochester a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute. The Dutch Lions, though, scored in the 60th, 62nd and 63rd and the match was called after 67 minutes following a lengthy lightning delay. The Rhinos (4-9-10) were eliminated from playoff contention – the first time in the club's 19-year history they won't make the postseason. On Twitter: @jcbanks11
