Green Bay Team Miller Red knocked off defending champion Cosmos FC 4-2 in the Men's Division I final of the 10th annual Miller Lite Cup on Sunday at the Akzo Nobel Soccer Complex in Howard.

Thirty-four teams played in the 10th annual adult tournament, with 12 teams in Men's Division I, eight in Men's Division II, 10 in Women's Open and four in the inaugural Men's Over-30 field.

Team Miller won the inaugural Miller Lite Cup in 2004 and claimed the title again in 2006, but hadn't won since. Cosmos FC had back-to-back matches against Team Miller sides, having beaten the Blue team 1-0 in overtime in semifinals.

FC Magic Scheels blanked College Boys 3-0 in the Men's Division II final, Yoopers topped FC Kickers United 2-0 to claim their second straight Women's Open championship and Westchester United won the round-robin Men's Over-30 title.

MADISON SOCCER ASSOCIATION

Richard Rowell (Middleton/UW-Platteville) scored two goals and Matt Haberli (Oak Creek/Concordia) added the other as the third-seeded Madison Fire outlasted No. 2 seed Madison United 3-1 after extra time in a Division 1 semifinal Friday night at Warner Park.

The defending champion Fire (6-1-3) will take on top-seeded Paradigm (9-2-0) in the final on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 8 p.m. at Warner Park. The teams split their regular-season meetings during the short spring-only season, with the Fire winning 1-0 in a season opener on April 28 and Paradigm posting a 3-1 victory on June 16.

• In the Division 2 final earlier Friday night at Warner Park, top-seeded Chivas (10-1-0) scored three goals in the opening 25 minutes and cruised to a 5-2 victory over No. 2 seed Sporting 1836 (8-3-0). Chivas, playing in the MSA for the first time, closed the season with 10 consecutive victories after losing their debut.

USL PREMIER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE

A pair of Marquette teammates, Thunder Bay Chill defender Axel Sjoberg and Chicago Fire midfielder Bryan Ciesiulka, were named to the USL Premier Development League All-Central Conference team.

Sjoberg, a 6-foot-7 center back from Sweden, has four goals in 16 matches for Thunder Bay (14-1-1), which plays fellow Canadian side Victoria Highlanders (10-2-4) in the PDL semifinals on Friday in Austin, Texas.

Ciesiulka had three goals and two assists in 12 appearances for the Fire (6-9-0) – two of his goals came in a 4-1 win over the Chicago Inferno in the regular-season finale July 21, a victory that gave Chicago the final Great Lakes Division playoff berth.

NATIONAL PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE

The NPSL announced an expansion of its postseason awards, adding a pair of league-wide honor teams and an award for the league's top coach.

An All-NPSL team will be selected, along with the NPSL National Player of the Year – Carlos McCrary of the Madison 56ers claimed that award in 2012 – and the Alexander Arellano Memorial Trophy for the coach of the year. The new coaching award is named in honor of the late son of Real San Jose owner Nick Arellano.

Meanwhile, fans will select the inaugural Supporters' XI. Like the All-NPSL team, the Supporters' XI will consist of one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two forwards "who demonstrate skill and excellence and are among the best at their position." Fans can vote until 11 a.m. Friday by sending an email with their favorite 11 players to vote@isnsoccer.com; only one vote will be accepted from each email address.
