It's been 15 years since Milwaukee Sport Club was able to celebrate a state Major championship.

Nick Unger (Milwaukee Marquette) scored in the 118th minute and Matt Eisold (Burlington/Wisconsin Lutheran) posted the clean sheet as Sport Club outlasted the Milwaukee Kickers 1-0 after extra time in the inaugural Wisconsin Soccer Leagues Major Division final Saturday night at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.

Unger's shot deflected into the net with about 2 minutes left in the second 15-minute period of extra time and Sport Club (10-7-4) – seeded fourth in the four-team playoffs – saw out the final minutes and stoppage time to claim their first Majors title since 1998.

The late goal was Unger's third in two playoff matches, as he converted a pair of penalty kicks in Sport Club's wild 6-4 upset of the top-seeded Croatian Eagles back on June 23.

The third-seeded Kickers (9-6-5), who topped No. 2 seed Bavarian SC 4-1 in the semifinals, lost in the Majors final for the third time in the past five years. This was the first season WSL oversaw the Majors, after being governed by the Wisconsin Soccer Association/Wisconsin Adult Soccer Association.
