Rose Lavelle will spend 10 days in Portland, Ore., before she starts her career at the University of Wisconsin.

But it's not a vacation, as the incoming freshman is headed to a training camp with the U.S. Under-20 women's national team being held at the University of Portland. The midfielder from Cincinnati has been a regular member of the Under-20 team this year under new coach Michelle French.

The national team is gearing up for qualifying for next year's FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Canada. The CONCACAF qualifying tournament is scheduled for Jan. 9 to 19 in the Cayman Islands, with the top three finishers earning spots in the World Cup.
