June 20, 1993: Jose Angulo had a hat trick, including goals in the 105th and 119th minutes, as California's CD Mexico beat Bavarian Leinenkugel 3-1 after extra time in a U.S. Open Cup semifinal at Bavarian Park in Glendale. CD Mexico picked up two red cards in the second half, but got stellar goalkeeping from Guillermo Valadez – including a save on Scott Kreitmeir's penalty – in addition to Angulo's goals, the last of which was a penalty. Dan Stebbins scored a 37th-minute equalizer for the Bavarians, who would advance to the final a year later. San Francisco's CD Mexico went on to rout Philadelphia's United German-Hungarians 5-0 in the final.
