Waukesha Catholic Memorial, which wrapped up an unbeaten season by winning the WIAA Division 2 state championship Saturday in Milwaukee, finished the year nationally ranked by two organizations.

The Crusaders (23-0-1) moved up six spots to No. 11 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll, and checked in at No. 48 in the season-ending Elite Soccer Report Top 50.

This is the sixth time Catholic Memorial has ended the season in the NSCAA poll – they were No. 1 in 2000, No. 5 in 1996, No. 9 in 1996, No. 10 in 2004 and No. 19 in 2006.

The Crusaders were third in the NSCAA Region III poll, which also included WIAA Division 1 state champion Cedarburg (16-3-1) at No. 9, and topped the ESR Wisconsin rankings ahead of Cedarburg and Waukesha West (19-5-0).

  • All three state championship matches will be shown on tape delay on Fox Sports Wisconsin. Ozaukee's 3-1 win over Racine Prairie School in the Division 3 final is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, while the other two championship games will be shown on June 29 – Cedarburg's 4-1 victory over Waukesha West in the Division 1 final starts at 7 p.m., followed by Catholic Memorial's 3-0 win over Mount Horeb in the Division 2 final at 9 p.m.
