June 26, 2012: UW-Stevens Point women's coach Sheila Miech announced her retirement after 25 years, ending a phenomenal era that started when she started the program in 1987. Miech led the Pointers to a 365-117-31 overall record – her victory total ranked sixth in NCAA Division III history at the time – including an incredible 133-12-7 mark in 20 seasons of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. Stevens Point won 14 regular-season conference titles and 15 WIAC tournament championships and qualified for the NCAA tournament 15 times in Miech's stellar career, and set an NCAA all-division record by winning 70 consecutive conference matches between 1997 and 2003.
