FC Milwaukee doesn't have a team in the Women's Premier Soccer League this summer, but many of the players who helped the Nationals win two of the past three WPSL Midwest Division titles have found a new team.

FC Wisconsin Eclipse, the club formed by former FC Milwaukee coach Christian Lavers, is fielding a side in the Elite Clubs National League Under-23 League. The two clubs recently announced that starting in the 2013-14 season, FC Milwaukee will be renamed FC Wisconsin, with its elite girls teams playing under the FC Wisconsin Eclipse name.

Lavers and Monica White, who coached the Nationals' WPSL team, are coaching the new Under-23 team.

FCWE opened play in the Midwest Conference on Saturday with a 1-1 tie against partner club Eclipse Select at the FC Milwaukee Complex in Germantown. University of Wisconsin forward Cara Walls (Wauwatosa East) gave the home team the lead, but the Illinois side scored in the 93rd minute to salvage a point.

Interestingly, all but one of the regular-season games for the 17 teams in the league are scheduled this month – the top two teams in the conference will earn berths in the ECNL Under-23 national championships in mid-July.
