Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) and the Canadian women's national team kept the U.S. off the scoreboard for 70 minutes Sunday in Toronto, but the world's top-ranked side was just too much down the stretch.
Alex Morgan scored in the 70th and 72nd minutes and Sydney Leroux – who was born in Canada – added a stoppage-time goal as the Americans beat Canada 3-0 in front of a sellout crowd of 22,453 at BMO Field.
The friendly, billed as "The Rematch," was the first game between the regional rivals since their controversial match last summer at the London Olympics. The U.S. won the semifinal 4-3 in extra time, a game that led to Canadian star forward Christine Sinclair receiving a four-game suspension from FIFA for her critical comments about the officiating.
The 29-year-old Sesselman, who has dual citizenship because her father is Canadian, played the full 90 minutes in her 33rd cap Sunday. However, she played as a holding midfielder – Sesselmann started her international career as a left back and has featured at center back for Canada since the Olympics.
Love this team..Love this country... Proud to wear Red and White. Tough loss against a very talented team. Always growing always learning..

Former University of Wisconsin assistant coach Carmelina Moscato logged all 90 minutes at center back for Canada, which was outshot 13-2 and didn't put a shot on goal as its winless streak against the U.S. extended to 28 matches (0-24-4) since 2001.
The Canadians next play June 19 against the team right behind the Americans in the FIFA Women's World Rankings: Germany. The U.S. is unbeaten in its past 32 matches overall (28-0-4).
