The Waunakee prep girls soccer team finished off its 10th consecutive perfect season of Northern Badger Conference play Wednesday night, but the Warriors' decade-long winning streak got quite a test.

Senior Samantha Kliminski scored in the 95th minute as Waunakee – ranked second in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Division 1 state poll – outlasted host DeForest 3-2 in double overtime for its 53rd straight league victory.

The Warriors (11-1-1 overall, 5-0-0 Northern Badger) outscored conference foes 31-3 this season and haven't lost in league play since a 1-0 defeat to Reedsburg on May 20, 2003. They are 64-1-0 all-time in Northern Badger action.

Waunakee plays Friday at ninth-ranked Oregon (12-1-1) in a what could be called the unofficial Badger Conference championship, as the Panthers won all six of their matches to win a second consecutive Southern Badger title.

  • Senior Alex Valeri had two goals and an assist as sixth-ranked Kenosha Tremper clinched its fourth straight Southeast Conference title with a 6-0 rout of host Racine Case on Tuesday. The Trojans have won 20 consecutive league matches heading into next Tuesday's finale against Kenosha Bradford – the Red Devils were the last Southeast team to beat Tremper, 3-2 on May 25, 2010.
  • The Gatorade Wisconsin Girls Soccer Player of the Year will be announced Tuesday. Cedarburg senior midfielder Josee Stiever won the award as a junior last spring and could be the third girl to be honored twice, following Waukesha Catholic Memorial's Leslie Osborne (2000 and '01) and Brookfield Central's Marti Desjarlais (2004 and '05).
