May 21, 2006: Center back Jay DeMerit (Green Bay/Bay Port) thundered in a header off a corner kick in the 25th minute and was named Man of the Match as Watford blanked Leeds United 3-0 in the Football League Championship playoff final at Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. By winning the "richest match in the world," the Hornets earned promotion to the Premier League for the 2006-07 season.
