FC Wisconsin Eclipse claimed one win in the inaugural round of the "Eclipse Derby."

Lindsey WeissTaylor Kerwin and Celina Nummerdorscored as the first-year Wisconsin club's Under-14 girls team beat their rivals from parent club Eclipse Select 3-1 in Elite Clubs National League play Sunday in Oak Brook, Ill.

Eclipse Select sides won the other four Midwest Conference matches on the day, with their Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 teams all posting 2-0 victories along with a 5-1 win in the Under-15 game.

"We knew going into these games that playing Eclipse Select, especially on the road, was going to be both a massive test and a great opportunity to assess where we were as a program," FC Wisconsin Eclipse founder and coach Christian Lavers said in a news release. "The result of almost every game ... was in doubt until the final 15 minutes, which reflects the competitiveness of our players and teams."

FC Wisconsin Eclipse, which had a difficult weekend on the road Oct. 20 and 21 with losses in seven of eight games against the Michigan Hawks and Vardar (Mich.), plays at Chicago's Sockers FC on Saturday before playing host to Eclipse Select on Sunday at the FC Milwaukee Complex in Germantown.
