Clubs: North Shore closes strong

The North Shore United Blue Under-18 girls team wrapped up play in the U.S. Youth Soccer National League on a high note, going unbeaten in three matches last weekend in Las Vegas.

The Cedarburg club doubled up Nevada's Players SC and New York's Empire Revolution Academy 4-2 in its first and last games of the weekend, with a 1-1 draw against California's Albion White on Saturday.

North Shore United Blue finished sixth in the eight-team Red Division with a 2-3-2 record.

  • A pair of Wisconsin boys teams fared well March 8 to 10 in Glen Allen, Va., at the Jefferson Cup, considered one of the country's top club tournaments. The Milwaukee Bavarians dominated foes in the Under-16 Classic Division, rolling past North Carolina's Carolina Select 3-1, Virginia's Richmond Strikers 4-0 and New Jersey's TSF Academy White 5-1. In Under-16 action, SC Waukesha Blue went 2-1-0 in the Platinum Division, with 1-0 victories over New Jersey's Morris United Spitfires and North Carolina's Charlotte United FC Gold sandwiched around a 2-1 loss to Virginia's FC Richmond Magic.
  • Add the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association to the governing bodies that will be enforcing a rule that requires tape or similar material on players' socks to match the color of the sock. WYSA will enforce the FIFA law starting this spring at all age groups. More information about the rule
