Quick kicks: Academy, ECNL recaps

FC Milwaukee's Under-15/16 team opened the U.S. Soccer Development Academy season with a win and a tie on the road last weekend in Minnesota.

The Nationals got a 19th-minute equalizer from Brian Rojasand Braden Andryk (Hartland/Milwaukee Marquette) gave them the lead in the 74th on Saturday against Shattuck-St. Mary in Faribault, Minn., but Akeem Ward scored in the 80th to forge a 2-2 draw for the home side.

Then on Sunday, Marcus McCrary (Madison La Follette) scored in the 5th and 50th minutes as FC Milwaukee blanked Minnesota Thunder Academy 2-0 in Blaine.

The Nationals' Under-17/18 side lost both of its matches on opening weekend.

Nikola Atlija (Franklin) pulled FC Milwaukee level in the 27th minute Saturday, butEddosa Muhammed bagged goals in the 65th and 80th as Shattuck pulled away for a 3-1 victory. A day later, the Thunder Academy got goals in the 23rd and 90th minutes in a 2-0 win.

Both Nationals teams make their home debut on Saturday against Chicago's Sockers FC at the FC Milwaukee fields in Germantown, with the Under-17/18 match at 11 a.m. and the Under-15/16 game to follow at 1:30 p.m.

FC Wisconsin Eclipse teams went 1-2-2 against Kansas' Sporting Blue Valley in their debut matches last Saturday at the FC Milwaukee fields in Germantown.

The Under-14 team delivered the first ECNL victory for the new club, with Lindsey Weiss' goal off an assist fromCamille Davre proving to be the difference for the home side.

Taylor Kerwin, Mikaela HoardJennifer Wendling and Payton Wesley all scored as the FC Wisconsin Eclipse Under-15 side played out a 4-4 draw, while the Under-15 match ended in a 0-0 tie.

The two older teams were on the wrong end of lopsided results, with the Under-17s losing 7-0 and the Under-18s beaten 10-1.  Ingrid Mortonson (Oconomowoc) scored for the Under-18 team.

FC Wisconsin Eclipse is back in action Saturday, playing host to Chicago club Sockers FC at the FC Milwaukee fields. Matches are set for 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
