After more than 20 years with the Milwaukee Kickers and FC Milwaukee, Tony Wright is heading a little bit to the west to continue his youth soccer coaching career.

Wright recently was named the Director of Coaching for the Madison 56ers and will begin in that position in mid-December, according to a news release. He succeeds John Reddan, a longtime fixture with the club who stepped down to pursue other personal and professional opportunities.

Reddan, who played and coached at the University of Wisconsin, played for the 56ers as a youth and an adult – he was part of the club's U.S. Soccer Federation National Amateur championship team in 1992 – in addition to coaching in the club for many years.

Wright, a native of Ireland, has been the Assistant Director of Coaching for the Nationals for the past 12 years and holds a USSF "A" license.

Among his many coaching accomplishments, Wright led FC Milwaukee to the U.S. Adult Soccer Association Under-20 national championship in 2001 and guided the Milwaukee Pius prep girls teams to back-to-back Wisconsin Independent Schools Athletic Association state titles in 1997 and '98.
