The progress continues at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona, where players, coaches and fans will certainly notice the latest additions to the 60-acre park.

Lights have been installed on three fields as part of the ongoing $3 million planned renovation of the 16-year-old park operated by the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association. (Photos below)

Two other structures have been added: a set of flagpoles on one end of Field 5, which is one of the fields with lights, and the Bill Reddan Spirit of Soccer Terrace, a stone terrace emblazoned with the words "Sportsmanship, Teamwork and Love of the Game" honoring the Madison-area soccer icon.

The project started in 2010 with the regrading of two fields and the renovation of a shelter at Badger Prairie Park, which is on the other side of Cross Country Rd. from the main fields.

Three full-sized fields and two youth-sized fields – Fields 2, 3, 4, C and D – were regraded last summer and re-opened in the spring. And a construction project on Cross Country Rd. was completed last month, making it easily to enter and leave the park.

Update: A dedication ceremony for the Bill Reddan Spirit of Soccer Terrace will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, while the lights will be turned on at 6:30 p.m. The events are in conjunction with the American Family Children's Hospital Reddan Toe Bash tournament.
