Chichitas have entered the National Indoor Soccer Championships each of the past four years.

And in each of those years, the Madison-based team has advanced to the Women's Open final.

They'll take aim at their third consecutive title – and fourth overall – this weekend at Soccer City in Palatine, Ill.

There are two Wisconsin teams in the six-team Women's Open field: Chichitas, who are in Pool A along with Ohio's Lady Saints and a team to be announced, and the 414/608 All-Stars. That team was put together by Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa West/UW-Whitewater) and will face Illinois' Lightning and Michigan's Ann Arbor FC in Pool B.

Group play is Saturday, and all six teams are assured of a match Sunday – the top two teams from each pool advance to the semifinals just after 11:15 a.m., and the final is set for 2:10 p.m. The third-place sides will play a consolation game.

The only state team at the NISC is Fox in the Box, a Madison-based team in the Coed Open division. Manager Carl Refsell (Wauwatosa West/UW-Whitewater) also brought a coed team to nationals last year under the name Australia Part II, which went 2-2 on the weekend.

Fox in the Box faces Michigan's Rotten Bananas and Ilinois' Mixed Nuts on Saturday, then closes out Pool A play on Sunday morning against Freekick FC – the California team lost to Milwaukee's HLAS 5-1 in last year's final. The top two teams in each of the four-team groups advance to the semifinals at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, with the final scheduled for 3:35 p.m.
