Cedarburg has been the top-ranked Division 1 prep girls soccer team in Wisconsin all spring.

Now the Bulldogs are getting some national attention.

Cedarburg vaulted into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll this week, making its season debut in the rankings at No. 9.

The Bulldogs also soared from seventh to second in the NSCAA Region IV poll, while Waunakee moved in at No. 9 in the region.

The final NSCAA polls of the spring will be released June 19.

  • Cedarburg and Waunakee each moved up one spot in the ESPNHS Powerade Fab 50, with the Bulldogs 37th and the Warriors 46th. The teams remain first and second in the website's state rankings, followed by Appleton North.
  • All but one of the 19 seeding meetings for the WIAA tournament are being done electronically this spring – the only in-person meeting is May 23 hosted by Waukesha Catholic Memorial (Division 2). Sectional 2 in Division 3, which had been listed as site TBA, will be played at Washburn. Regional semifinals in all three divisions are May 31.
  • Senior Lexi Herrewig became the career leading scorer at Winnebago Lutheran last Friday, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Appleton Fox Valley Lutheran to take her total to 114. That surpassed the 113 goals scored by Colleen Stuck from 2000 to '03.
  • Darian Molter, just a sophomore, broke the Marshfield career record for total points last Thursday when she scored four goals and added an assist in an 8-0 win over Merrill. Molter has 52 goals and 18 assists for 122 points; Vanessa Kowalski (2003 to '06) had the mark with 102 points.
