Patrick Hodan added another award to his impressive resume this week.

The Milwaukee Marquette senior striker, who is headed to Notre Dame in the fall, was named the Gatorade Wisconsin boys soccer player of the year for 2011.

Hodan had 45 goals and 10 assists in helping the Hilltoppers (24-0-1) win their second consecutive WIAA Division 1 state championship last fall. Marquette finished the season ranked third in the ESPNHS Powerade Fab 50 and fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll.

The 5-foot-9 Hodan also was the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Player of the Year, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Player of the Year, the Greater Metro Conference Player of the Year, an NSCAA All-American and an NSCAA Scholar All-American – he has a 4.01 grade-point average.

Hodan is the ninth Marquette player to earn the award in its 27-year history – three of the past four winners have been from the school.

"Hodan might be the most dangerous player I've seen in 30 years," Middleton coach Ken Burghy said of Hodan, who set the Hilltoppers' career and season goal-scoring records. "His ability to slip through tiny spaces with incredible quickness, blow by defenders in his first two steps and do it all while keeping the ball attached to his foot is phenomenal."
