Senior midfielder Scott Odorico scored 90 seconds after the opening whistle, and Oregon went on to thump visiting Madison Edgewood 5-0 on Tuesday night to clinch at least a share of its fourth consecutive Southern Badger Conference boys soccer title.

It was the Panthers' 25th straight victory in conference play, a streak dating to a 2-1 overtime loss to Edgewood back on Sept. 23, 2008. Odorico's team-best eighth goal of the season set the tone early on this night against the Crusaders (8-3-0 overall, 4-1-0 Southern Badger).

Senior defender Colin McReavy doubled the lead 15 seconds before halftime and Oregon (10-1-1, 5-0-0) got second-half goals from senior Nick Hepner, sophomoreRyan Machonga and senior Andrew Jend as it won its ninth consecutive match overall.

The Panthers can clinch the title outright with a win or tie against Monona Grove next Tuesday, with a victory giving them a fourth straight perfect conference season.

• Milwaukee Marquette moved up two spots to No. 13 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll. The Hilltoppers, who were 9-0-2 at the time of voting, remained second in the Region VI poll – Middleton (10-1-1) was sixth, with Green Bay Preble (10-2-3) eighth, Madison West (11-1-0) ninth and Muskego (9-4-0) at No. 15.
• There is another national ranking once again with the recent creation of Elite Soccer Report. The site is run by Sheldon Shealer, who previously covered high school and club soccer and did similar rankings for Student Sports and ESPN. Marquette is 11th in the ESR Top 50, while Middleton checked in at No. 48. Shealer's top three teams in Wisconsin are the Hilltoppers, Cardinals and Madison West.
• Marquette's unbeaten streak stands at 48 matches (45-0-3) after an 11-0 rout of West Allis Central on Tuesday. Should the Hilltoppers avoid defeat against Waukesha West on Saturday, they would shoot for No. 50 next Tuesday night against seventh-ranked Brookfield East in a match that likely will determine the Greater Metro Conference title.
