Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) is headed to China.

The defender is part of the Canadian women's national team's 21-player roster for the Yongchuan Cup, a four-country tournament that starts Jan. 12. The Canadian team leaves Sunday.

Sesselmann, 29, has made 26 appearances for the national team (24 starts) since earning dual citizenship in 2010 – she qualifies for Canada because her father is Canadian. She was part of Canada's Pan American Games championship team in 2011 and won a bronze medal with the team at last year's London Olympics.

Canada, ranked seventh in the FIFA world rankings, faces host China on Jan. 12, South Korea on Jan. 14 and Norway on Jan. 16, all in Yongchuan. Norway is 12th, South Korea is 16th and China is 17th in the FIFA rankings.

Defender Carmelina Moscato, an assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin, was left off the roster because of a hand injury, according to Canadian media reports.
