Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay) is expected to make his debut for Norwegian club Sandnes Ulf in Sunday's Tippeligaen season opener against Strømsgodset, then will head to the Persian Gulf.

The striker was one of 21 players named to the Canadian national team roster by interim coach Tony Fonseca for a 10-day training camp in Qatar that will include international friendlies against Japan and Belarus.

Ricketts, 25, has nine goals in 20 career caps for Canada, which faces Japan on March 22 and Belarus on March 25. Both matches will be played in Doha.

On Wednesday, Canada learned that it will be paired with Mexico, Panama and Martinique in Group A for this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. The regional championship kicks off July 7 and includes matches at 13 venues across the U.S., with the final July 28 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

  • Incoming University of Wisconsin freshman Rose Lavelle played all 90 minutes once again as the U.S. Under-20 women's national team closed out the 12 Nations Tournament with a 0-0 draw against Sweden on Monday in La Manga, Spain. Lavelle played the final 225 minutes at the tournament for the U.S., which finished 0-1-2.
