Six years ago, Dafydd Jones was playing in goal for Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.

Now he's a regular on a national team.

The 28-year-old Jones is the starting goalkeeper for the Wales national futsal team, a new program that only played its first matches last September.

Jones was an honorable mention All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference selection for the Wolves in 2007, and also spent time with the Milwaukee Bavarians of the National Premier Soccer League and the Milwaukee Wave's reserve team.

The native of Barry, Wales, now plays for Genesis Futsal Club, a team in east London that competes in the FA National Futsal League South. He's appeared in five of the six matches the Welsh national team has played – they've lost all of those games, but four of them have come by one goal.

Jones played the second half in each of the team's first two matches, back-to-back 2-1 losses at Andorra, then got the call for Wales' first two UEFA Futsal Euro qualifiers in January in Bulgaria. He made 10 saves in a 4-1 loss to Greece and stopped 16 shots in a 2-1 setback against the host country.

Most recently, Jones turned in an impressive performance in a 1-0 loss to England in a friendly on Sunday in Hereford, England. Here are the highlights from the match, including an interview with Jones.
