Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay) and Canada couldn't finish their chances and dropped a 2-0 decision to Belarus in an international friendly Monday in Doha, Qatar.

Ricketts played the full 90 minutes in his 22nd cap and had two opportunities to get the Canadians on the board in the second half.

First, he looked to be in alone on goal, but Belarussian goalkeeper Aleksandr Gutor just beat him to a through ball on the left side of the box. A few minutes later, Ricketts headed another chance over the crossbar.

That proved to be a theme for Canada on the night, as Will Johnson and Marcus Haberalso sent headers high on quality opportunities. Belarus scored in the 29th and 88th minutes in the sometimes-heated match, which featured seven yellow cards and the ejection of winning coach Georgy Kondratiev early in the second half.

The game marked the end of a 10-day camp in Qatar under interim coach Tony Fonseca for Canada, which also lost to Japan 2-1 in a friendly Friday. The 25-year-old Ricketts now heads back to Norway, where he will resume his first season with Sandnes Ulf in the top-level Tippeligaen next Monday at home against Aalesund.
