The eight National Women's Soccer League teams finalized their season-opening rosters Monday, and five players with state ties are active as the new league prepares to play its first matches this weekend.

Three of those players are FC Kansas City teammates, as defender Katie Kelly (Marquette) joins defender Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) and midfielder Casey Loyd (Cedarburg) on the roster. They'll play the first game in NWSL history, as they play host to Portland Thorns FC on Saturday night in Overland Park, Kan.

Midfielder Leslie Osborne (Brookfield/Waukesha Catholic Memorial) and defender Carmelina Moscato, a former University of Wisconsin assistant coach, are with the Chicago Red Stars – their opener is Sunday at home against Seattle Reign FC in Lisle, Ill.

The Red Stars also announced Monday that forward Lindsay Tarpley (Madison), who hasn't played competitively since suffering a torn ACL in her right knee in May 2011, is continuing her rehabilitation and is expected to join the team in the coming months. In announcing its roster, Chicago released goalkeeper Erin Kane (UW-Milwaukee)
