Age:
 25.

Rec Player of the Week

Hometown: Roanoke Rapids, N.C. (in the northeast part of the state just south of the Virginia state line). Now lives in Madison.

Occupation: Graduate student in sociology at University of Wisconsin. Recently finished her Master's degree, working toward PhD.

Current team: Green Revolution, coed team at BreakAway Sports Center; women's indoor team at Keva Sports Center.

Soccer experience: Started playing in third grade; played sophomore season at Roanoke Rapids High School (distance runner on track and field team for other years); also played on travel club team and in city recreation league.

Favorite rec soccer moment: "I can only think about a bad moment right now. I can laugh about it now, because I got entirely too upset about it. I remember somebody, when it was already, late minute of the game I think it was and the other team was no way coming back and this guy just slams into me. And the ref got really pissed off about it too for me, at least, but I was pissed. I jumped up and just shouted. I had to be a little restrained. That's the moment I remember right now. I let out all of my aggression on the field; that's my release."

Boots: "adidas indoor. It's whatever BreakAway makes me wear – they won't let me wear the shoes that I love, because they have blades on the bottom. It's really tough finding women's shoes, and this is the only pair of women's indoor shoes I could find. They're all right."

Who's the best player you've played with or against? "I'd have to say my keeper, and he's actually in the sociology program with me, Paul Hanselman. He used to play with us, but he's gotten a lot busier with the program so he hasn't been able to play with us as much. But he's a fantastic keeper. We miss him, hardcore."

Why do you play? "I missed it a lot, so I knew I needed to get back out and get on the field, and it's a great way to meet people – it's really the only reason that I know a lot of people outside the (sociology) department. So that's fantastic."

Do you have an on-field pet peeve? "I hate when I stop, that's my biggest pet peeve. When I stop and get mad at myself for a play and I just stop playing. I get mad. I have to make sure that I don't actually go "Ugh" and hit my head."

Are you a soccer fan? Do you follow a specific soccer league or club? "Not so much on TV. I find it frustrating to watch when I can't play, so I don't watch a lot on TV. But if I find a big game that looks like it's good, I'll keep it on. I've watched a couple of the big games at bars with friends, but not at home."

Does your team have a rival? "Not for the coed team. I think here the teams switch up too much, the players change a lot and I don't always know who it is we're playing. The women's league, yeah, there are rivalries."

What aspect of your game needs work? "Probably finishing on my shots. I don't always take the best shots."
