I think my soccer career is a little unique.
Unlike the majority of my teammates, and presumably many of the visitors to this site, I didn't take up the sport seriously until I was 28.
OK, fine, technically, I did play for two years when I was a kid, though I'd hardly consider the time I spent wandering around as a goalkeeper and defender back in those days playing, since I was only partially aware of most of the rules.
And, as anyone who has played with or against me can attest to, I'm using the term "career" pretty loosely in the first paragraph.
Anyway, today while I was cleaning out my closet, I came across the first pair of soccer shoes I ever owned: A pair of blue Samba flats that my wife bought me after I proved to her that I would stick with the sport.
I got to thinking: Since I got involved in soccer at such an advanced age, I still have every pair of soccer shoes I've ever owned. Thinking back, I'm pretty certain that the shoes I wore for soccer when I was younger actually were baseball cleats.
So I grabbed the camera and figured I'd document my soccer shoes. They're not fancy or exciting, but they're part of my experience with the game I've fallen in love with over the past eight years.
