Milwaukee Wave forward Ian Bennett, who had a hand in 10 goals last week, was named the Major Indoor Soccer League Player of the Week.
He's the second Milwaukee player to earn the weekly award this season: Defender Joe Hammes (Cedarburg) was honored Dec. 13. The 28-year-old Bennett had four goals and six assists as the Wave won two of three matches to improve their league-best record to 12-2. He leads Milwaukee with 38 points – a career high for the fifth-year pro – and ranks second with 12 goals and 11 assists.
Bennett has recorded points in 11 of 14 games for the Wave, who close out a five-game road trip Thursday night with their third consecutive match at the Wichita Wings.
