Milwaukee Wave defender Joe Hammes (Cedarburg) was named the Major Indoor Soccer League Player of the Week.
Hammes scored seven points, netting two goals – including a 3-pointer – and two assists, to help the Wave (6-0) come back from an early deficit and beat the Rochester Lancers 24-9 on Saturday night.
The 32-year-old Hammes, who was the league's Defender of the Month for November, is tied for the league lead in points by defenders with 19. Milwaukee is back in action Friday against the Wichita Wings (3-5), with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Arena.
