It's been quite an exciting couple of months for Jamie Lieberman (Racine Prairie School/UW-Parkside).
In late September, Lieberman was named to the U.S. Futsal national team. Now the goalkeeper is a professional soccer player.
Lieberman recently signed with the Norfolk SharX, an expansion team in the Major Indoor Soccer League.
The SharX open their 24-game schedule Friday night against fellow MISL newcomer Syracuse at home in Virginia. Lieberman then will have a quick homecoming, as Norfolk plays the Milwaukee Wave on Nov. 19 at U.S. Cellular Arena.
The other keeper on the SharX roster is Brian Sowell, a Virginia native who played at Virginia Military Institute and was with the Richmond Kickers in USL Pro during the outdoor season last summer. Following his career at UW-Parkside, Lieberman was the reserve team keeper for the Milwaukee Wave and spent one season as an assistant coach for the Wright State men's team.
