 The defending Major Indoor Soccer League champion Milwaukee Wave will open their 29th season on Nov. 13 against the expansion Wichita Wings at home at U.S. Cellular Arena.
The MISL, which is now part of the United Soccer Leagues, announced its 2011-12 schedule Tuesday. Each of the eight teams, split into four-team divisions, will play a 24-game schedule.
The Wave's schedule includes five home games in a six-match stretch in December and early January, and a four-game homestand in late January and early February. Meanwhile, Milwaukee also has a five-game road trip in January and plays its final four games of the season on the road.
Among the highlights of the Wave's home schedule at U.S. Cellular Arena are the team's annual New Year's Eve Day game, which will be a rematch of the 2010-11 MISL Championship Game against the Baltimore Blast, and two school-day exhibition games.
Milwaukee's season finale is set for March 3 at Chicago, an expansion team currently without a nickname, and the top two teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs.
The Wave will play Chicago six times and their other Central Division rivals, Wichita and the Missouri Comets, five times each. Milwaukee also has home-and-home series with the four Eastern Division teams: the Blast, the Norfolk SharX, Rochester Lancers and Syracuse Silver Knights.
