J.C. Banks (Milwaukee Riverside/UW-Green Bay) played a major role as the Rochester Rhinos routed the visiting Pittsburgh Riverhounds 4-0 in a United Soccer Leagues PRO National Division semifinal Friday night.
Banks helped set up the first two goals as the top-seeded Rhinos (13-8-4) completed their season-long dominance of the fourth-seeded Riverhounds (7-12-6). Rochester outscored Pittsburgh 11-0 in winning all four of the teams' meetings this season.
In the 10th minute, Banks received a pass from Alfonso Motagalvan on the left flank and sent a cross in for Isaac Kissi, who flicked the ball on to Tyler Rosenlund to finish past charging Riverhounds goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap for the early lead.
Then in the 28th, Banks zoomed down the left side and played in a cross that was headed in by Tony Donatelli for a 2-0 lead.
Rochester will play host to the second-seeded Harrisburg City Islanders (11-7-7) in the division final Friday night, with a berth in the inaugural USL PRO Championship Game on the line. All three matches between the teams this season have been 1-0 games, with the Rhinos winning the past two.
