Leslie OsborneMidfielder Leslie Osborne (Brookfield/Waukesha Catholic Memorial) suffered a fractured wrist in the Boston Breakers' 0-0 draw with the Atlanta Beat in a Women's Professional Soccer match back on June 19.

Osborne wrote in a WPS chat on Twitter that she's been training with a "cute purple cast" on and expects to be ready to play when the Breakers resume WPS action on July 10, also against the Beat.

She's played in 10 of 11 matches (all starts) for Boston (3-5-3), which is fifth in the six-team league.

  • Forward Casey Nogueira (Cedarburg) was named WPS Player of the Week last week after her third goal of the season gave Sky Blue FC a 1-0 victory over Atlanta on June 22. Her corner kick curled over Beat goalkeeper Allison Whitworth and into the net to win it for fourth-place Sky Blue FC (3-3-3).
  • Central defender Jay DeMerit (Green Bay/Bay Port) started and went 62 minutes as the Vancouver Whitecaps lost to host Toronto FC 2-1 on Saturday and dropped the championship series of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship. Toronto FC claimed a berth in the CONCACAF Champions League with the 3-2 aggregate victory – the first leg was a 1-1 draw on May 18 in Vancouver and the second leg was abandoned on May 25 due to heavy rain and lightning. DeMerit missed Wednesday's Major League Soccer match between the teams, a 1-0 win for Toronto FC, with an adductor injury.
