J.C. Banks (Milwaukee Riverside/UW-Green Bay) came through in the clutch Saturday night.
The rookie forward scored the game's lone goal in the 90th minute, giving the host Rochester Rhinos a 1-0 victory over the Dayton Dutch Lions in a USL Pro match.
Rhinos goalkeeper Neal Kitson sent a long ball into the box that deflected off the head of a Lions defender and fell to Banks, who fired a shot past Dayton keeper Jesper Leerdam for his second league goal of the season.
Banks has three goals and two assists in 13 appearances in all competitions for Rochester, which plays host to Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday.

Central defender Aaron Hohlbein (Middleton/UW) returned to action for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League, playing all 90 minutes as the team extended its unbeaten streak to six matches with a 1-1 tie with the visiting Puerto Rico Islanders. Hohlbein, the team captain, played in every minute of the Strikers' first 10 games before missing last week's 0-0 road draw against the Montreal Impact because of a knee injury.

It was a rough Saturday night for Jay DeMerit (Green Bay/Bay Port). The Vancouver captain and central defender conceded a penalty kick in the 34th minute and was subbed out of the Whitecaps' 2-1 loss to Sporting Kansas City at halftime due to tightness in his groin. Coach Tom Soehn said the move was a precaution; DeMerit missed several matches recently because of the same injury.
